Wisdom can sneak up on you when you least expect it. If you're not paying attention and catch it out of the corner of your eye, you might think it's a spider and squish it flat...
I was sixteen or seventeen when I first saw it--and definitely imprinted itself upon my brain in some weird ways. Having introduced it to many other sixteen or seventeen year olds in the decades since, I know it holds up pretty well for sixteen and seventeen year olds. I've always been curious whether it would have the same impact on someone seeing it for the first time as a full-fledged grown-up.
I don't think I've ever seen the Breakfast Club all the way through. I've probably seen enough pieces and scenes that I can put it together in my head, but I've never seen it in one sitting.
I'm not much of a movie buff, but this is one I go back to again and again--as I said above, probably partly because some sort of weird adolescent imprinting thing happened the first time I saw it.
Who is that Masked Mom? I'm the mother of four children, ages 21 to 28, grandma to one, employed full-time in the chemical dependency field, writer in personality if not always in practice, married twenty-eight years, waiting less and less patiently for all the hard-earned wisdom to kick in so I can relax and coast a while....
Now I have to find The Breakfast Club on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a dork about it. You would think I would be DONE watching it by now, but every time I stumble across it on USA or whatever, I'm sucked in.
DeleteFun cut...now I want to see it too!
ReplyDeleteHappy A to Z!
