An Open Letter to the Songbird in My Backyard*

Dear Mr. Black-Capped Chickadee,

I listened to your plaintive calls for over an hour this morning. I feel your pain. The path to true love is never straight or smooth. I don't know who this Phoebe is, but I truly hope you find her soon so I stand some chance of sleeping past 5:37 a.m.

Sincerely,
Masked Mom

S is for Sleepless

PS--

*Right outside my bedroom window.

  1. Oh my goodness. It does sound like Phoebe. I like listening to the birds. I can identify only the cardinal for sure, though. But of course, they are not right outside of my bedroom window!
    Earplugs, perhaps?

    1. I usually love listening to the birds--even in the mornings. This little guy the other day, though, must've been so close to the window because his voice stood out so clearly and it went on and on and on. Perhaps he found Phoebe though--because I haven't heard him again.

  3. Thank you for visiting my blog. I'm not great at identifying birds but there is something about early morning song...not just too early! Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. I agree--I love the morning chatter and song as long as it's not too early or too close to my window. It's like a little soundtrack to start the day. :)

    1. I love watching birds in general, but especially birds of prey when I get to see them--eagles, hawks, osprey, owls. I find them all fascinating.

And will definitely stop by for a visit soon. :)
