...randomly generated at Random.org, for the winner of the audiobook version of Tom Perrotta's The Leftovers:

Thanks to everyone who entered with special thanks to number three, without whom the "random number generator" would've been the quarter in my pocket.

Masked Mom's One-Word-Line Review: Dorky and proud of it.

1. This link leads to the only audio/video clip I could find for On The Rocks, which happens to be an instructional video for line dancing. Maybe I just need to get out more, but the way the woman waves and smiles at the camera in the beginning just tickled me to death.

2. I have now further cemented my reputation as a somewhat questionable housekeeper by admitting that boxes from a move seven months ago remain unpacked.

3. Lesson learned the hard way*: if you are, say three, episodes behind watching a family drama, clicking on the show's home page in order to link to it for a blog post is a good way to expose yourself to LOTS of spoilers.

* And isn't that the best way to learn a lesson?

  1. Holy crap! I just told my jBird yesterday that I never win random drawings. I feel like Miss America! As for your questionable media... I'm going to have to do some hunting, especially for some of the books.

  2. Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits are the only music matches. Zilch on the cd mixes. Zilch on the books on the desk , though I have read others by Goldberg, Hoffman, and Irving. I actually do have Didion's Slouching Towards Bethlehem and King's On Writing on my desk (having just finished Blue NIghts). As for the Daily Show - watching Jon the next night is my refuge. Seldom do I get more than three behind on either Jon or Stephen.

  3. That Jewel song is one of my favorites.

  4. S. Stauss--E-mail me your mailing address when you get a chance and we'll get the book on its way to you. As for the books on my list--when I was finding pages to link to, I couldn't help noticing that Rob Lowe's memoir and Bill Clinton's book on the economy had the SAME three-and-a-half star rating on Amazon. For some reason, that cracked me up!

seb--Ah, the Daily Show & Colbert, I know what you mean. I usually watch them the morning after they air. Not sure how I've fallen so far behind.

WN--It's just so sweet and hopeful and steely strong all at the same time. I've been feeling like I need a bit of that lately.

  6. I can't believe you have a Shaun Cassidy cd. I wrote him a poem for a Tiger Beat contest when I was in jr. high. I didn't win.

  7. We had "Under Wraps" on LP--actually I STILL have it--and listened to it obsessively. Unfortunately, that title has never been digitally mastered and put on CD so I've had to settle for the greatest hits. I still listen to it ridiculously often. Do you remember the poem? I'd LOVE to hear it. :)

  8. I do not remember the poem-thankfully. I'm sure it was awful and completely corny. Tho' I'm also sure it rhymed. All my poems did back then. I think the last line was something like- "my ever-loving Shaun." hehehe
