Wisdom can sneak up on you when you least expect it. If you're not paying attention and catch it out of the corner of your eye, you might think it's a spider and squish it flat...

There's A Lesson In Here Somewhere
Sixty pound Remy, completely unaware that he is well over "lap dog" size, perfectly content with the lap he's been given...
Thanks everybody for the comments. Remy was sort of a rescue dog--it's a long and complicated story and there is more than one version (of course, mine is the only one that's correct), so I won't bore anyone with those details. We were told he was a collie-boxer mix. He has the long, vaguely aristorcratic face of a collie, he is broad across the chest like a boxer, but otherwise tall and much leaner than either collies or boxers genrally are. He was about four months old when we got him and very funny looking. He's still pretty funny looking...but he is one of the most insanely affectionate dogs I've ever met. Even when he is ON you, he wants to be closer and will nuzzle his pointy nose down in your neck, etc. It's occasionally overwhelming, sometimes adorable. (It's especially adorable when he's doing it to someone else!)
I love how both dogs and cats shoe horn themselves into tight spaces and declare themselves victorious even though they are spilling over like a bulging muffin top.
Who is that Masked Mom? I'm the mother of four children, ages 21 to 28, grandma to one, employed full-time in the chemical dependency field, writer in personality if not always in practice, married twenty-eight years, waiting less and less patiently for all the hard-earned wisdom to kick in so I can relax and coast a while....
Awh! So cute!
ReplyDeleteLap spelled backwards is pal, and I think Remy has found a pal. This is a priceless post.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteLove this. Want a "Remy" :)
ReplyDeleteSweet.
ReplyDeleteSo so so adorable! I want a "Remy" too!

ReplyDeleteSuch a sweetie. In his mind, he's still a wee puppy.
