Random(-ish) Quote Saturday

"The fact that we bring ourselves wherever we go does not keep us from going. The urge to 'get away' may be bred in the bone. Perhaps someday researchers will discover a gene for it. My guess is that they will fnd it somewhere betwen the ones for manic depression and attention deficit disorder."
~~Mary-Lou Weisman, Traveling While Married

  1. Yeah, Annie is nodding enthusiastically. I am as ADD as you can get, and my family thinks I am manic, so I have all the bases covered. Speaking of manic, as in paces, my protest in the parking lot of the Observer, lending my a certain element of credibility in our little burg.

Masked MOm, temporarily, I am being a tad overwhelmed with my entry back in the world I occupied for so many years teaching. My reception has been very rewarding. In the past ten days, my world has expanded outward, as former students are discovering that the guy who used to try and teach them how to write, actually does OK in that regard. My page-views, something that heretofore, I have paid any attention to, have been escalating alarmingly. I topped 400, yesterday, giving my four digits in three days. To this old hippie, it doesn't matter.

But I am going to use this interest to begin hammering away at Kaiden's college fund. I figure half-a-million ought to do it, and we have 18 years. I have proposed to the community, that if people are interested, (and my "stats" indicate they are) I will start putting my essays out for purchase at a buck apiece, with all proceeds going to Kaiden's college fund.
Big 'tings qwine on here. Great success.

Though I have become drunk with power, I will never forget the little people, who helped me to the top.

  2. This is alarmingly true. I'm wondering what it says about me that I completely agree? :D

  3. I don't believe that I fall within that spectrum, but I do relate to the "trying to get away" statement. A therapist once hinted during a session that I might want to stop running and face "me" head on.

  4. Ha-ha-ha so funny and so true! Great choice of quote.
