"Of all the things I am not very good at, living in the real world is perhaps the most outstanding. I am constantly filled with wonder at the number of things that other people do without any evident difficulty that are pretty much beyond me."
~~Bill Bryson, I'm A Stranger Here Myself: Notes on Returning to America After 20 Years Away
I think we can all relate to this one, on some level.
ReplyDeleteI've been relating to this all week. :)
DeleteRight. And then look at what Bill Bryson does - his book on hiking the Appalachian Trail is one of my all time favorites......
ReplyDeleteI know, JT. I love him--have read everything he's written. Special place in my heart for the hiking book (A Walk In The Woods) and his childhood memoir Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid. I laughed sooooo hard reading Thunderbolt that some of my family thought I was going to need medical intervention. I get a little giddy just thinking about it. ;)
DeleteIncredible how you go along with a feeling, and then suddenly someone you've never heard of puts it into words. This quote is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
